Neuro 2: Revolutionizing Hearing Aids with Compact Design and Advanced Technology

Designed by C. Lockenwitz & Oticon Medical, the Neuro 2 is a compact, aesthetically attractive cochlear implant sound processor.

Neuro 2, a groundbreaking cochlear implant sound processor, is the brainchild of C. Lockenwitz & Oticon Medical. It's a testament to the power of design and technology to improve lives, offering a compact, aesthetically pleasing, and high-quality solution for those with hearing loss.

Neuro 2's design was inspired by the need for a premium cochlear implant sound processor that was not only high in quality and durability but also compact and aesthetically attractive. The designers aimed to create a device that would fit comfortably behind the ear, eliminating unnecessary parting lines and using high-quality materials to achieve a smooth surface.

What sets Neuro 2 apart from other cochlear implant sound processors is its small size, achieved without compromising quality or functionality. This is particularly important for children with hearing loss, as larger sound processors can be bulky and uncomfortable. The organic shape of Neuro 2 has been designed to match the contours of the ear, making it both comfortable and discreet.

The realization of Neuro 2 involved the highest level of craftsmanship, with each detail meticulously crafted to make the device thin, small, robust, and reliable. It has undergone extensive testing to ensure it complies with the highest safety standards. A hardwearing hydrophobic repellent coating protects the sensitive electronic board and its components, ensuring the device is durable and reliable.

Neuro 2 also features a voice-activated light indicator that tests the entire electronic system at startup. This feature eliminates the need for additional buttons or equipment, simplifying the user experience. The design team's focus on user interaction and functionality is evident in this innovative feature.

The design process for Neuro 2 was an iterative one, starting with the division of the product into sub-concepts like microphone inlet, battery connection, LED, antenna connection, etc. The team then explored solutions for each sub-concept, combining them in different ways to develop concepts. Prototypes were developed and tested, with feedback from each iteration used to refine the concept and improve the design.

Neuro 2 has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Design Award in 2018. This award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
